If you haven’t heard frontals are the latest rage! (Although weren’t they around a few years back, then shunned away) Well they are here now and on the lips of all clients near and far. “I want a frontal. I want it to look natural but not wiggy!” I swear I hear this at least 10 times a week.

A brief history on this new fad. Frontals began as wig installments used for film and television. Frontal refers to the unit which simulates a natural hairline. Individual hairs are tied to a nude colored mesh net in the shape of a hairline. Frontals may be freely attached or apart of a whole wig unit.

The issue arises once people learn that this unit must be applied with an adhesive, whether it be glue and or tape. If applied correctly, they give the appearance of hair growing directly from the scalp. Glue does not dry, it cures. In other words, hardens. Because it doesn’t dry, it will eventually rise depending upon the moisture and heat is it exposed to. Ladies, kiss the gym goodbye.

Frontals are fantastic for TV and film, they photograph fabulously. They, however do not make a great LIFESTYLE choice. The application is tedious and time consuming making it a pretty pricey service! So if you were considering getting one, please consider your lifestyle and the maintenance needed to clean your pores and the unit itself.

Happy Styling,

Meghann Monroe

I absolutely love the fact that you explained this in depth so many of my clients don’t or don’t want to understand all the factors that are involved
